Dr Rolf Ekéus

Mr. Rolf Ekéus joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden in 1962. He was Ambassador and Head of the Swedish Delegation Conference Disarmament, Geneva from 1983 to 1988, and Chair of the Committee Chemical Weapons in 1984 and 1987. He was the head of the Swedish Delegation CSCE, Vienna 1988-92, and later Executive Chairman for the UN Special Commission on Iraq (UNSCOM) 1991-1997, following which, he served as Ambassador of Sweden to the United States 1997-2000.

He was a member of the Board of Directors Nuclear Threat Initiative since 2001 , a member of the Supervisory Board, Luxembourg Forum since 2004, a member of International Commission Missing Persons, ICMP since 2006, a member of Pugwash Council, Pugwash Conferences since 2014, and a member of the Governing Board European Leadership Network since 2013. He is also a member of the Advisory Board, Center Nuclear Weapon Studies, USA, since 1998, a member of the Royal Academy of War Science since 2000, a member of the European Council on Foreign Affairs, since 2013, a member of the Canberra Commission on Nuclear Weapons, 1995-1996, a member of the Advisory Board on Disarmament of the UN Secretary-General, 1998-2003, and Chairman of the International Advisory  Panel on the Future of the OPCW from 2010-2011.
