Ms Deepti Choubey is Head of Public Affairs and Spokesperson for the OPCW.
Ms Choubey has a track record of advancing global security by working across civil society and industry, at the highest levels of government, and with the media. She is a widely quoted and published expert and speaker on nuclear materials security, non-proliferation, disarmament, the test ban, and international regimes. Her op-eds and other commentary can be found in influential media outlets around the world
Previously and since October 2014, Ms Choubey, a Senior Fellow at Johns Hopkins University’s Foreign Policy Institute, clarified the nuclear security and disarmament linkage. Throughout 2015, she was concurrently a Senior Policy Consultant in the CTBTO’s Office of the Executive Secretary. From 2010-14, Ms Choubey was the Nuclear Threat Initiative’s (NTI) Senior Director for Nuclear and Bio-Security. She co-led NTI’s 20-month effort involving top officials, experts, practitioners and industry representatives, which resulted in the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit outcomes reflecting innovative policy solutions. Ms Choubey was Deputy Director of the Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace from 2006-10 and as Director of the Peace and Security Initiative for the Ploughshares Fund over 100 NGOs improved their collective impact on policy. Earlier, she had a private sector career advising companies on market-leading strategies.
Ms Choubey’s Masters of International Affairs in international security policy is from Columbia University and her undergraduate degree in government is from Harvard University.
